Women report fearing public speaking more than men do, but is this really about being afraid? Audiences hold women public speakers to a different set of standards; however, women have particular advantages as public speakers that they can learn how to take advantage of to subvert expectations, from content and delivery to their appearance. In this lively workshop, you can learn from a highly esteemed expert in this field, Denise Graveline, about the common challenges and mistakes made in public speaking, as well as the skills and tactics you need to become a successful public speaker.

About Denise Denise Graveline is a Washington, DC-based communications consultant and speaker trainer who writes the popular public-speaking blog, The Eloquent Woman, on issues related to women and public speaking. A former journalist and communications executive, she also served during the Clinton Administration as the Deputy Associate Administrator for Communications, Education and Public Affairs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and on the White House Council on Women. Today, she works with corporate, nonprofit and university-based clients and coaches speakers for the TEDMED conference. She is a frequent contributor to Toastmaster, the official magazine of Toastmasters International.
