OUR POLICY WORK
Fabian Women’s Network produces prescient policy insights for the shadow front bench, regional and local government based on the lived experience, expertise and the research of our members.

Below you'll find details of what we are currently working on.
Our previous policy work includes reimagining the economic model, ending FGM, labour market digitisation, responding to MeToo, universal childcare and women’s homelessness; we also incubated the Women Leading in AI network. You can read more about our previous policy work here.
If you have a policy area you are keen to work on or an idea you want to share with us, please get in touch.
Civility In Politics
With Public mistrust of politicians at an all-time high (Just one in ten Britons say they trust Ministers to tell the truth ) and with voting at an all-time low the answer must never be to look to populism and the far right for the quick fix solutions but rather to reshape how we do politics and crucially how we conduct ourselves as those who believe in politics as a force for good.
Anti-Racist work
Following the murder of George Floyd and the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, FWN took a fresh look at what it needed to do to ensure it was a truly anti-racist organisation. As a result of this, led by our Black sisters, we devised an action plan and formally adopted the main Fabian Society’s statement on their anti-racist work. Please get in touch if you want to get involved.
Health inequality in the UK
In autumn 2020 we will be holding events and producing a pamphlet on how a variety of health inequalities disproportionately affect women. This is inspired by and follows on from our zoom events on Women, the Frontline and Covid 19 and After the Applause: an Economy that Appreciates and Delivers for Healthcare Workers. Click the links to watch recordings of the events.
