Public Speaking Club: Debate on ‘Unconditional Basic Income’

10 June 2014, 6.30-8.30pm | Committee room 17, Houses of Parliament, London SW1A 0AA

Join the FWN Public Speaking Club for our next debate on the provision of Unconditional Basic Income.

This is yet another great opportunity for our members to practice their speaking and debating skills in a supportive setting. The host MP will be confirmed shortly.

We will be debating the following motion:

“This House believes everyone in the EU should receive Unconditional Basic Income.”

As always, we are looking for people to fill the following roles:

-Proposer of the motion -Seconder for the motion -Opposer of the motion -Seconder to the opposition -Person to sum up the argument for the motion at the end of the debate -Person to sum up the argument against the motion at the end of the debate

The debate will be in accordance with the structure of a parliamentary debate. Attendees without a role will be encouraged to make contributions throughout. To get the most out of the debate, we kindly request that all attendees carry out some research beforehand. It makes all the difference, particularly for those who are new to debating – you will find yourself confidently and fluently contributing in no time!

To confirm your attendance at this debate and to sign up for a role, please RSVP by Tuesday 3 June to Paulina Jakubec, at paulinajakubec@hotmail.com.

Please, make sure to allow at least 30 minutes to go through security on the day, and do let us know if you have any accessibility requirements.
