At a time of rapid political and technological change, Fabian Women look to reflect on some of the most pressing issues of our times at this year’s party conference. We invite you to join us to get a glimpse into the future and women’s place in it.

The rapidly changing nature of our work lives has significant implications for policy and practice. The rise of robots, the contracts we work under and hours we work are all shifting. What does this mean for our movement? What does this mean for women? How do we ensure a diverse, vibrant work landscape and not just greater inequality?

Is Artificial Intelligence Sexist? Monday 25 September, 12.30-2pm, Fabian Venue, Lancing 1, Holiday Inn – Brighton Seafront, 137 Kings Road, BN1 2JF
One day not too far away, artificial intelligence will be smarter than humans. Robots will support and in some cases replace our jobs and activities, with consequences on the economy and the labour market. But one issue is often overlooked: as the technology develops, absorbing cultural norms from its creators and the internet, will it be friendly to women, or will it replicate the stereotypes we have in society?
Speakers: Chi Onwurah MP, Shadow BEIS team Yvette Cooper MP (invited), Chair: Home Affairs Select Committee Seema Malhotra MP Claude Moraes MEP Benedict Dellot, RSA Ivana Bartoletti, Chair: Fabian Women’s Network
